Project Description

29 new units, conversion of Grade II Listed church and buildings

Kennet Construction Ltd tendered and won this project to convert the old United Reformed Church at Church Street, Trowbridge, BA14 8GQ. The buildings had been empty for a number of years and were falling into disrepair. As a major landmark in the town centre it was becoming a problem and desperately needed regeneration.

Works include asbestos removal, stripping out previous fittings and fixtures, decommissioning of old services, new foundations including underpinning, structural alterations, new floors, staircases, new roof structure where needed and repairs to existing, design and installation of new M&E services, external works and carpark areas, security systems, insulations, fire stopping, new windows, doors, secondary glazing, repairs to original stain glass windows, remodelling and maintaining aspects of original church.

Construction Period:

  • Phase 1: 5 Units Work started December 2021 and completed October 2022. Time on site 43 weeks.

  • Phase 2: 24 Units Work started November 2022 and due to be completed later in 2024.
